Be The Person You Want To Meet
Have you ever heard of the question: “If you could have dinner with any 3 people alive or dead, who would you pick and why?” Who would you choose if you were asked? What would be the reasons for the choices you made?
Most people pick some combination of historical figures, athletes, or celebrities. Why? It might be because they are famous or because of the contributions they have made to the world. But what if you sat down to dinner with this group of famous people and they ended up not being very nice, or were completely uninterested in talking to you?
Think about what qualities you would want in the people that you share a meal with. You could probably come up with a whole list of personality types that would make the experience more pleasant; people who are kind, attentive, conversational, and who have a sense of humor.
Are there people you know that fit those descriptions who aren’t famous–people who make you feel better just by being around them? There are probably people in your life who do that for you on a regular basis. They are role models for how to treat others.
So, would anyone ever include your name in their answer to the question: “If you could have dinner with any 3 people, who would you pick?” Your first reaction might be that it would never happen. But stop think for a moment about different ways that you could have a positive impact on others…just by being you.
Life is a journey, and we should always be looking for ways to learn and grow. It’s never too late to make positive changes and be the best version of yourself. Aspire to be the person you would like to meet someday!
